Oh hi there.

So much going on, it's hard to keep track.

Some highlights. Kind of in order-

I saw a lot of beautiful skies. In several places all over the world:

Traveled to some places I never imagined I would go and saw things I never knew existed:

Was continually amazed at what man can do with his hands and make with his imagination:

Got a hoodie for Penski as it was freezing in LA. She hates it I think. But does appear warmer:

Stood by while Miss Alyssa Brown learned to drive stick in a supersize market parking lot in Tulum, Mexico:

Got to work with my dream team on a fabulous wedding in Calistoga. Doing flowers outside, backyard style while drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.

Took some morning walks with Mrs. Sheofsky* and we both marveled that most peoples' work day starts in a windowless cubicle. And several times a year, ours starts like this:

There were lots of flowers and events in there too- but I'll save those photo's for the professional photographers.

I worry this sounds like a bragging my life-is-so-great-post. It's not meant to be. I've had a really, really big year. With lots changing and lots moving all at once. Some real lows and some big highs. Pick-yourself-up-and-wipe-your-tears sort of things slammed up next to I-can't believe-I-get-these-opportunities. All mashed up, one next to the other.

2011 was a bit monumental. I'm not sure what 2012 has in store, but I'm looking forward to a big, new, fresh year- full of possibilities. And saying goodbye to an extraordinary, difficult, exhausting, amazing 365 days.

I have one more job left. That I can't wait to do. I dream about it. And some really wonderful things I get to be part of in January. Life just keeps on rolling by...

I have a lot to say about this wedding. It was a very big deal for me. A big job with a lot of creativity and details and logistics.

And people I love very much helped me make it was it was.

So much so that Martha Stewart published this spread in their new Destination Weddings Issue out on stands right now.

That is a big deal in itself- as I never would have a imagined when I started my business, that our work would be in a magazine. I just wanted to make things with my hands and loved the juxtaposition of flowers- they seem so fragile, but are quite strong and resilient.

I am a college dropout who had a really hard time figuring out where I fit in this world. And after spending my early 20's having anxiety about what I would do when I grew up, being 30 and having a job that I love means the world. And working with such talented people on a daily basis. Such charming, hardworking, amazing people.

But, more important than any of these silly achievements is that two people got married in a very special, unique, lovely way. And yesterday was their anniversary. One year. Congratulations Laura and Justin.

This was a really great weekend. These two were such a pleasure to work with.

As was AE Events as usual.

The weather was great and such a perfect time of year for flowers. Going to the SF Mart is always a little like coming home. Same guys have been there since I started as Floral Buyer 8 years ago. The types of guys that ask about my family and offer me coffee and chocolates. It's such a special world at 5am. Peonies and garden roses were exploding. Wild Cecil Bruner and passion vine were the perfect accents.

It was also fun to run around Dawn Ranch and pick extra little bits of stuff from the property. I always feel a little bad about that. Rogue flower cutting. But slightly thrilling at the same time. Verdict is still out if this is a good thing- or a bad habit.

A very big thanks to Laura and Dustin, AE Events, Dawn Ranch and my super great team. Who are always down for the long haul and smile all the way thru it.

How great are these guys?

Molly is so awesome. Just wanted to have a great, loving wedding. And she was in my hood- so it was fun to meet up at our local coffee shop and have her drop by the studio.

She and her friends actually did the table settings- we just helped out a bit on the Personal flowers. Sharon really outdid herself. Thank you thank you Sharon for being such an amazing right arm to BPD.

Thank you Kinfolk. I've barely skimmed the pages and already can tell this might become a real, applicable guide to life and work. Like a good old fashioned periodical. That sounds dramatic.

What I mean is, so often everything out there points to this overreaching concept of overdone. Over cutified, over zealous and underwhelming.

Kinfolk seems to have found a well curated, thoughtful and insightful foothold. One where the articles have content and the editing is beautiful.

As someone who is continually frustrated that my Dad never showed me how to properly use a chop saw- I think this is pretty great.

He taught me plenty of other really wonderful things. And I can use a band saw. It's just those angles that I'm lost on... go little ladies go!

This weekend really felt like a weekend.

I got the most beautiful chairs, which I wasn't looking for, but it's probably the only thing the MOMA and I will ever have in common.

Spent a good while here. You should go. Almost a museum more than a store.

Enjoyed all the lily pad tops of the wild nasturtiums growing in the back. They are everywhere. And need a little prodding to grow up the fence rather than over the entire backyard.

I am currently in Houston TX with a little time on my hands. Which means daydreaming and lots of internet/blog hours. And lots of eating of fried foods- but that is a different post. I will say I've eaten fried pickles with ranch three times in four days.. I digress.

In Brooklyn, which looks magical. And I want everything there. As Jordan would say, run don't walk (which is what she informed me to do the other day for a sweatpants sale at H & M...).

It's 12am, so I've officially missed my Monday posting.

We've been busy making beautiful things and getting our hands pretty dirty. No time for photo's, but luckily, we spent our weekend with one of the best. So those pic's will be worth the wait.

All I can think about when things get nutty like this (all you other florists know what I'm talking about... it's called September) is the super amazing group of ladies I get to work with.

My friend Julie has this joke, which is, she responds to any challenge with "Ya, I'm a florist" - basically meaning she can do anything. And she can. All these gals can, and it's pretty amazing.

So when Teri is drilling our new chopper to a 2" thick block, or Jordan is scrubbing down metal garden chairs with steel wool, or Julie, Sharon and Karen are racing away to make the most perfect thing possible the quickest- I feel super lucky to be part of such a cool group of ladies and that we get to make a living loving our work.

It makes midnight market lists seem like a drop in the bucket.

And sometimes, after all the work is done, we get to sit around a pool and laugh and drink champagne out of paper cups at a decent, but certainly not fancy hotel. Like Heather here, who is always game to drive a cargo van and do installs in the scorching sun and remake bouquets in a flash because the bride forgot to fill us in on her new request for pink.

And she has one of the coolest flower tattoo's around.

Thanks all you ladies, for being so unbelievably talented and such hard workers. You guys inspire me.

The father of the bride sent me this photo of a his daughter's bouquet.

Garden roses, peonies, wild blueberry vine, scented geranium and sweet peas.

That's the only thing I did in the entire photo. The family collected and put together all the other elements. How amazing are those guys?

And I think Mr. Kaye has a second career as a photographer happening very soon.

I just ordered one of these for my niece.

Technically two, one for me and one for her.

My sister and I used to make them as kids at our grandfather's house in Midland TX. While swimming. I think those were the only two things we did when we visited. Both activities work well in extreme sun. We also ate vitamins at breakfast time. And rainbow jello.

Um, yes, it is exactly what is sounds like. Jello layered in 'rainbow' flavors. With a finishing touch of cool whip. Chilled and cut into perfect squares. It's delicious and one of these days I'll make it again. Just to make sure it still tastes the same.

She's not even two yet, so I think it might be a bit premature, but I will be happy to help her make one of these floppy little papers and maybe we can share the results.

My dearest friend Sharon just came back from a great trip up North and found a yet another treasure that I am dying to go check out. Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company (based out of Missouri) Just opened their first outpost in California. Petaluma to be exact. In an old bank. It's called The Seed Bank, and it looks pretty amazing.

Luckily, I have Sharon who is ridiculously generous with her seeds, but I couldn't resist ordering their 2010 catalog. Thank goodness my husband just tiered out three more beds in our backyard- um yes, by himself. He's amazing and also a little crazy.

Last eve Lizzie and I went and saw Exit Through the Gift Shop and I'm still thinking about it.

Even if street art isn't really your deal, it is a totally fascinating story that keeps unraveling till the very end.

Hellooo there.

We had a super sweet backyard- (beauuutiful three tier garden in historic Griffith Park Estates) wedding this weekend. With the nicest, most calm bride in the world.

Sadly, I forgot my camera in the hustle, but here is an iphone quickie of her bouquet.

I will post more when I get the photog's results.

I believe they hit the peak of lilac season. It was amazing and smelled sooo good. And- totally wasn't really trying necessarily to do so, but her entire wedding was California grown. Pretty righteous, yeah?

Kristina- are you out there? This wedding was totally inspired by our 1st little shoot/date last year. Crazy, huh? That was a year ago! Lilac season! and now you have a baby!

Good morning!

Here are some more shots from our shoot at the Viceroy.

I love working in Palm Springs, but the heat is definitely something to keep in mind if you are having your wedding outdoors.

To bring in a mass of color without having to worry about something failing in the sun, we made these fabric flowers. To be honest, the were kind of a pain in ass to make. I have sort of a love/hate for all projects Martha (which is where I got the template). Out of her 6 templates online, only one seemed to do the trick, so we just made different sizes and colors.

I also tried to keep in mind the heat when designing the actual flowers. Most people think of daisies and mums as to common, but when put together with a couple other things, it looks fresh and different. Anemone's hold up suprisingly well.

Same with the bouquets- pretty hardy stuff in here-

Baxter I miss you. Please come back from NY. We need our mascot.

Helloo there.

I'm a little late on my posting today. But I'm super excited to show you these photo's.

I got the opportunity to put together a beautiful table at the Viceroy Palm Springs with Alison Events. The endlessly talented Jose Villa captured the whole thing and Hello Lucky did a fantastic job on the paper goods. Like ridiculously fantastic. Seriously, hire those ladies if you need anything custom. They are out of control.

My absolute favorite magazine came out with their first ever wedding edition today. I am so honored to be in it. I'm in some very good company. Friends up north and friends down south.

hello there!

I've been traveling for work. But it doesn't much feel like work when you are collaborating with friends and have super lovely clients at an amazing venue.

My largest complaint today is that I stuffed myself with too much dessert at our client's tasting. Rough, huh?

Here is a quickie photo that my co-pilot snapped today on our way back from Santa Barbara.

I think that is wild mustard flower up in the hills. Have a good week- more fun things to post about tomorrow...

Daffodils.

If I have to answer the question 'what is your favorite flower?' my quick fire response is always daffodils.

Partly because that is what we always had in our garden beds growing up. I would make little bunches and hand them out to my teammates at weekend matches. Yep, I was a pretty dorky kid.

I love their pencil thin stems and bright yellow tea cup petals. It forever makes me think of the scene in old school Willy Wonka where Mr. Wonka picks a daffodil out of his candy garden to drink the nectar as a tea, then takes a chomp of the actual cup. For a sugar deprived 10 year old, that was pretty much the stuff my dreams where made of.

They are a sure and steady sign of spring and warmer days. Even now that I live in a place that is one long sunny day, it just doesn't feel right to buy them until March (they usual start showing up at the mart around January).

Cheap and cheerful as cut flowers, hardy and super easy to grow in the garden, they are forever my favorite flower.

Trader Joe's has cuts right now for 1.39 a bunch. Or plant some bulbs. You are really supposed to plant these guys in the Fall months, but I might try to trick nature and pop some in around my citrus trees. They are great to lure bees over and according to the American Daffodil Society, like the shady companionship of a citrus tree.

Garett, why do we live in LA if this sort of light exists in Brooklyn? Just kidding really, I love where we live.

Having just moved into a new house that has white painted wood floors, I was immediately in awe/extremely jealous of this place. And then of course looked at both of their websites and am totally blown away by their combined talents. Check out her jewelry! I want it all.

Good morning!

Today I am excited to show you what the wonderful ladies at 100 layercake and I worked on a few weeks back.

And, we were lucky enough to get Jose Villa to shoot it for us. You know those people who are just as nice as they are talented? Well, that's Jose. So gracious and so amazing at what he does. He's just a true pleasure.

We had the best time putting this together. Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse is ridiculous. We hardly had to do anything, it's so beautiful.

Whew! Kind of a whirlwind couple weeks!

The moving boxes are unpacked. Things are semi put away. Time to get back to work!

These are Icelandic poppies. A sign of spring. I think they are just as pretty closed as they are blooming. Something about their fuzzy little heads and stems always makes me smile.
